Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery Statement for Man with Van Stamford Hill
Man with Van Stamford Hill is committed to conducting all aspects of our business with integrity, transparency, and respect for human rights. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. It applies to all employees, contractors, agency workers, and suppliers who provide goods and services to our business.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
We have a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, including forced labour, bonded labour, child labour, human trafficking, and any form of exploitation or abuse. We will not knowingly engage with or support any organisation, individual, or practice that is connected to modern slavery. This commitment underpins our decision-making when selecting, managing, and, where necessary, terminating relationships with suppliers and business partners.
All employees and contractors are expected to act ethically and with integrity, and to uphold our values in every aspect of their work. Breaches of this policy may result in disciplinary action, including termination of employment or contract, and may be reported to relevant authorities where appropriate.
Our Supply Chain and Due Diligence
Our supply chain includes providers of vehicles, fuel, equipment, storage facilities, maintenance services, and temporary or agency labour. We aim to work only with reputable suppliers who share our commitment to respecting human rights and preventing exploitation.
Due diligence on suppliers is carried out on a risk-sensitive basis. Where we identify higher-risk areas, we carry out enhanced checks, request further information from suppliers about their own modern slavery policies, and review any publicly available information about their ethical practices. We expect suppliers to demonstrate that they have adequate procedures in place to prevent modern slavery in their own operations and supply chains.
Supplier Audits and Compliance Monitoring
To support our zero-tolerance stance, we conduct periodic audits and assessments of selected suppliers. These may include reviewing policies, worker terms and conditions, recruitment practices, and evidence of right-to-work checks. Where feasible, and particularly in higher-risk categories, we may request documentation that demonstrates compliance with labour, immigration, and health and safety laws.
If a supplier is found to be in breach of our modern slavery requirements, we will work with them to develop a corrective action plan with clear timelines. If the supplier fails to remedy the issues within a reasonable period, or if serious violations are identified, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage employees, agency workers, contractors, and anyone else connected with our business to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery or human trafficking. Concerns may relate to our own operations or to those of our suppliers and business partners.
Reports can be made confidentially through internal management channels. We will treat all concerns seriously, investigate them promptly, and take appropriate action. We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith, even if it is not ultimately substantiated.
Training and Awareness
We provide guidance and information to staff, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, and supplier management, to help them identify potential indicators of modern slavery and understand how to escalate concerns. We aim to build awareness so that our people are equipped to challenge suspicious practices and seek advice where necessary.
Ongoing Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility that requires continuous improvement. Each year, we review this Modern Slavery Statement and our related policies, risk assessments, and due diligence processes. The review considers changes in our business, feedback from staff and stakeholders, audit findings, and evolving best practice.
Following the annual review, we update our procedures where appropriate to strengthen our controls, enhance training, and improve the way we assess and monitor suppliers. This statement has been approved by the management of Man with Van Stamford Hill and will be reviewed and updated on an annual basis to reflect our continuing commitment to combatting modern slavery and protecting the rights and dignity of all workers.
